Prayer Journal

I fully believe God answers our prayers but I've never actually tried recording them for hard evidence.  In an effort to develop my "Attitude of Gratitude" and so you wonderful people can know how to pray for me, I'm going to give it a whirl!
Because my Type A urges require organized bullet points and a preconceived plan, I'm going to follow the ACTS model of Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication (had to look that one up-basically, praying for your needs and the needs of others.)  Enjoy!

  • I am forever in awe at how You have woven every detail of our lives in with the rest of humanity!  I see it all the time, though fully acknowledge that I am really only seeing an iota of its intricacy.  I can't wait to get to heaven and fully understand the magnitude of who You are and what You have done!  I always thought it was a little weird (I'll be honest-"Egotistical" was the word in my head) that we would spend the rest of eternity praising You.  I mean-"Really?"  But now I think I'm finally starting to understand how that actually makes total sense; I imagine everywhere we turn or look, we will be just blown away by your awesomeness!
  • I confess my continued struggles with materialism and evaluating my self-worth based on what people think of me (or how I perceive they think about me).  Instead of asking You to direct me moment-by-moment, I too often depend on my own ideas, will power, feelings, and worldly idols to get me through the day.  Ugh!-I hate that about myself!
  • I am so grateful for the relaxing weekend we just enjoyed in Asheville and the availability of my parents to watch the boys!  Thank you for directing me to an AA meeting Saturday morning so You could remind me that I only have  fear when I am trying to live life on my own terms.  If I give my concerns over to You and ask Your Holy Spirit to fill me, then there is nothing to worry about.
  • Please keep me present in my relationship with You throughout the day.  Guide my thoughts and desires so that I may lead a life which is pleasing to You.
  • Give us insight and direction concerning our financial matters and the future of Kevin's career.  Please provide him with opportunities (and the action) to seek your will in prayer.
  • I lift up my friend LM as she begins counseling in hopes of both personal and marital growth.  May her therapist serve as a vessel through which You communicate with her.
  • I pray for my AA sponsor, that she would aptly guide me on my path of sobriety while also maintaining her own.
  • Continue to reveal Yourself to M as You guide her in sobriety and family conflict.  I ask for understanding and forgiveness in the hearts of her family members.
  • I ask that You reveal Yourself fully to ML and that in doing so, she could finally be free of her attitude of resentment and victimization. Her heart is so heavy and her relationships are few and strained.
  • I ask for purpose and direction for SD as her relationship ends.  Help her to utilize the wonderful set of creative talents you have given her to find her calling in life.  Continue to work on her heart, that she may come to know You and experience the awesome Power and Peace of Your Holy Spirit!
  • Lastly, in full acknowledgement and respect of Your will and perfect plan, could You just get to it and bring Baby M home already!!!!!
